GOOGLE // Interaction designer

Leading design and research for Bolo, a mobile app that helps children learn to read across 8 global languages. As the only designer, own both the design planning and research setup with a challenging demographic - children and parents in rural India.

⭐️ When Bolo was tested with children in India, we found that 64 percent of children who used the app showed an improvement in reading proficiency ⭐️

 

 
Nov 2013 - Mar 2018

Hike Messenger // Design Lead

Owned the UX for chats around groups and communities inside Hike and led a team of five product designers to help Indians have rich and meaningful interactions with others. Set up and defined the process for design recruitment, overall design team roles, and responsibilities for the company’s 24-member-strong design team.

Earlier (circa 2015 - 2016), led the design for Hike Games as the only designer, allowing people to play simple, and Kb-sized games with their friends, all inside the chat application

⭐️ Within less than a month of launch, Hike Games had over 100 million game plays, and people spent more than 20 minutes on average per day playing games ⭐️

Even before (circa 2013 - 2014), owned the user experience for the twelve games published on Google PlayStore, as a single designer working with several game artists

⭐️ The game ‘Dadi vs Jellies’ awarded ‘Game of the Year’ at the NASSCOM Game Developer Conference (NGDC14) ⭐️

Univariety // Design lead

Assembled and mentored a team of eight inter-disciplinary designers and set up core design process - user research, usability testing, and formal design reviews. Led the design of a web platform for Asian students to plan admissions, and apply for scholarships at international universities

⭐️ Captured a new user segment (International Schools) by developing online portal to replace in-person counselling and training with online portals, and thereby reducing the cost of the service by almost 85% ⭐️

PlayUp // Designer

As the only designer, owned and designed the ‘Cricket’ module of PlayUp iOS app. Designed and delivered the end-to-end experience of the PlayUp Android app, and the subsequent web version - PlayUp Live. Conducted user interviews and usability tested the Web version - PlayUp Live, to let sports fans access, and participate from any desktop

⭐️ PlayUp ranked on the iTunes Store as #1 free sports app in about 28 countries ⭐️

 

 
Sep 2010 - Dec 2011

ibibo // UI designer

Designed the games website for ibibo.com, that hosted more than two hundred single and multiplayer games, and a peak DAU of 5M players. Also designed the user flows, and web/mobile UI for the platform’s most played social games — ‘Mumbai Underworld’ and ‘Yes Prime Minister

⭐️ ‘Mumbai Underworld’ and ‘Yes Prime Minister’, featured on Google’s then-new Chrome Web Store in India ⭐️

Received three appraisals in three consecutive quarters for being an outstanding contributor. Was awarded a trip to the final match between IND and SL, Cricket World Cup 2011.
